What Dental Implant is Best for Me?

dental implants

Choosing a dental implant or implants to replace a missing tooth or teeth is a significant first step toward restoring your ability to eat, speak comfortably, and smile confidently. However, knowing what type is best for your situation can take time and effort with so many dental implant options. Rest assured, all the different types we offer at Care Dental are safe and effective. Discussing them with one of our implant specialists can help you choose the best option for your needs.

Titanium Dental Implants

We use titanium dental implants for our patients. These are implants made of biocompatible titanium, a durable, long-lasting metal used for decades in joint replacements. A titanium dental implant rarely causes an allergic reaction. It can last a lifetime, providing a stable base for a crown or dental prosthetic. Titanium implants are the most popular type of dental implants available and have been chosen by countless patients.

Ceramic Dental Implants

For patients who are sensitive to titanium, allergic to metals, or prefer not to avoid using anything metal in their body, ceramic implants (sometimes called metal-free dental implants) are an excellent alternative. These implants are made of surgical-grade ceramic and are the same color as natural teeth. With a ceramic dental implant, even if your gums recede or the gum tissue is thin, your implant will look natural because no metal is exposed.

Zygomatic Dental Implants

Patients with extreme jawbone loss may not be able to get traditional dental implants placed in their upper jaw. If a patient has been turned down for implants in the past due to a lack of jawbone density or because bone grafting was not sufficient for upper jawbone implants, zygomatic dental implants may be the solution. These implants are longer than traditional ones and screw into the cheekbones, holding the restorations in place. Since no bone grafting is needed, many patients can get zygomatic dental implants without waiting months for bone grafts to heal.

Bar Attachment Dental Implants

This bar attachment dental implant procedure uses just four implants in the upper or lower jawbone to support an overdenture. The permanent denture is affixed to a metal or ceramic bar attached to the four implants placed in the jawbone, creating a stable foundation for your replacement teeth. Less surgery is required because only four implants are placed. Stability is not compromised because your oral surgeon will maximize the stability of the implant placement to take full advantage of the jawbone’s strongest areas.
